3 Great Places to Grab a Summer Cocktail in Aspen

With the ski lifts closing and the weather changing, before we know it it will be June and tourists will be flooding in, festivals will be happening, and all kinds of new mountain memories will be made. It may sound odd to spend your summer in Aspen—a city famous for its winter slopes—but many believe it's the greatest season to be here. Especially if you're coming from super hot hometowns in someplace like Texas or Arizona.

In Aspen, summer is a perfect time to sit outdoors and sip a cocktail with your pals, perhaps before grabbing dinner, after a long hike, or before heading home for the night. Below are three great places to do so when the weather is nice!

  1. Ajax Tavern. This is a lovely place to grab a burger, a salad, and a cocktail any day of the week. It's more of a lunch spot with great views of Aspen Mountain. As part of the Little Nell, their wine list is out of this world but don't sleep on their cocktails! My personal favorites in the summertime are the sangria and their Frosé. I actually love the sangria so much, I copied it as a signature cocktail for my 30th birthday.

  2. Casa Tua Mountain Patio. My husband and I go here in the summer with friends and get a gin and tonic with muddled berries. It has a nice view of the mountain and is sort of tucked away. It has an "if you know, you know" vibe about it. The couches there are comfortable. Plus, it's pet-friendly!

  3. Duemani. Yes, I'm biased because my husband's company, AHG, owns this spot, but their cocktails are amazing. It's a pretty cool after-dinner bar scene as well. I love their Cool + Spicy or their Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned.

Any of these spots would also make for great event venues if you're interested in putting together a fun, memorable summer soiree. Sarah Rose Events in Aspen would be elated to help you plan your summertime party, whether it's a birthday, an anniversary party, a baby shower, a Fourth of July party, or whatever else you have in mind.
