Meet Sarah Rose Attman | Founder of Sarah Rose Events in Aspen

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Rose Attman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah Rose, how do you think about risk? I don’t actively think about risk taking, but reflecting on my life and career I do, in fact, take a lot of risks. It was a risk to start my PR company at age 24 with no formal business or marketing education. It’s a risk now to be an event planner in Aspen. It’s hard to explain, but I take risks because I can’t not. They say people only move from the least uncomfortable place to the next least uncomfortable place. Not having these businesses was more uncomfortable than the risk of doing it/the fear of failure.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others? My business is called Sarah Rose Events in Aspen. We are newer on the scene in Aspen, Colorado, but I’ve been planning personal events my whole life and professional events for my PR clients since 2012. I think what sets us apart from others is that we have this great East Coast work ethic. We will hustle for you and we pride ourselves on being super creative and on top of every tiny detail.

Event planning is exciting and fun for us! That happiness in what we do spills over into our clients’ celebrations. One thing that’s also a little unique about us is that for the time being we are actually less focused on weddings and more focused on other celebrations (dinner party, birthdays, holidays, etc). In Aspen, there are many wedding planners—as it’s an amazing place to get married. However, I like that we don’t necessarily have that niche.

Sarah Rose Events is a natural extension of my other company of 10 years, Sarah Rose PR, so this transition has been pretty seamless. At every event I learn new lessons that I apply to the next event. That’s one thing I really love about this work—it’s mentally very challenging and stimulating, but in a fun way, if that makes sense. I’m someone who gets bored easily and there is never a dull moment when it comes to party planning! I also love planning events for the clientele in Aspen. They love to have fun!

What I want people to know about my brand and story is that we are not this cookie-cutter event company. There are SO MANY event companies and party planners out there, but when you choose to work with us, you can truly relax and be at peace that you are in great hands. We will give your event 110% creatively and professionally.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Love this question! Of course it depends on when they are visiting, as Aspen is such a seasonal town. But let’s say it’s winter! I would give them a day to rest and get used to the altitude/recover from the trip in, which can be stressful. The next day, though, we would hit the ground running with a fun ski day at Aspen Highlands and a memorable lunch with champagne at Cloud 9. Afterward, I’d recommend we grab a drink at Kemosabe’s private upstairs bar and then do dinner in Duemani’s beautiful outdoor yurt. My husband owns Duemani and Acquolina so, of course, I need to give them a shoutout! After dinner, if we want to keep the party going, I’d suggest drinks at Hooch. The next day, I would say we do lunch at Ajax Tavern on the patio and then spend the afternoon shopping at all the great stores in town. My personal favorites are Pitkin County Dry Goods and Cos Bar!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I want to give a shoutout to my husband, Carlos Solorzano. He has been by my side through it all over the past six years and I would absolutely not be where I am today without him. He has been so supportive of me launching my event company in Aspen! When I was doing my first event, he even helped me deliver welcome bags to hotels around town because I couldn’t find anyone else. He is also an amazing entrepreneur himself. He inspires me!
